I loved this book because I could easily connect with it. I understood her love with cars and how she's constantly surrounded by guys. The problem gets introduced pretty early, but there doesn't seem like there's an extreme stress on trying to fix the situation. A lot is on the romance between the two characters (which I loved), and there was a plot twist thrown near the end before the book ended scene.

The part that first interested me about Ruby Red was that it was originally written in German. It then had to go through a translator to be released in the U.S in English. Ruby Red gives a twist in time traveling. A lot of time travelling has to do with genetics (or genetic modification), a certain object that triggers something, or intended magic. This book creates a machine that was purposely made for time traveling, to be used by certain people. Throw in a love interest, a prophecy and a perfect cousin who was supposed to take your place in all this time-traveling shenanigans and now you have one big problem on your hands.

I don't know why I put The Lost Hero here instead of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Both are extremely well written books and I am deeply embedded within the fandom. It might be becuase The Lost Hero was the first Rick Riordan book I have ever read. Ever. It was the book that started it all.
The Lost Hero introduces a new set of characters apart from the first series. It follows Piper, Leo and Jason through their half-blooded quest

The Maze Runner brings a new idea up onto the plate. It's a dystopian novel of a group of boys that live inside a Maze, and Thomas this newbie (a.k.a "Greenie") gets shoved into the Maze. All he knows is that he's called Thomas. That's it. And all of a sudden a girl (the first girl to enter the Maze) arrives, telling everyone that it is the End.
